伝説の場所
駅への送迎の途中でお客様に温泉街の側の笄渡しを案内致しました。風林火山にも関連する伝説を話しました。温泉街の近くにこんな歴史のある場所があって、嬉しいです。案内してもらいたかったら、是非声をかけて下さい
On the way to the train station, I took some guests to 'Kougai-watashi', a spot along the Chikuma River rich in local legends. I'd be happy to take you there, too, and share the history of our area.
3 Yanks and a Canadian - the organizers
今年は温泉街の側の川沿いの公園でイースター（復活祭）の祭りがまた行われました。私が待ちの国際交流協会と温泉旅館組合の協力を得て、地元の子供達は約１２０人が集まって、異文化のイベントを楽しめました。
This morning we held an Easter Egg Hunt at the park down at the river in front of the town. I enjoyed sharing some of my Western culture with the local kids.
Ridin' the Bronto
晴れた天気を生かして、お客さんとうちの子供を連れて近くの恐竜公園に行ってきました。遊んでから近辺のラーメン屋さんで「恐竜ラーメン」も。６人で１つをぎりぎり食べれました。
Taking advantage of the nice weather, we took our kids and some guests to the nearby 'Dinosaur Park'. After playing with the life-sized dinos, it took 6 of us to finish off a bowl of 'Dinosaur Ramen' at a local ramen shop.

Our 'nakaniwa' koi pond at night. It's scenes like this that made me want to move to Japan.
Setsubunsou
戸倉駅の上の天狗公園にこの可愛いらしい花が沢山咲いています。節分のころに咲くのでセツブンソウと言います。この写真は今日泊まっているお客様の上田さんが撮って頂きました。
This pretty little flower is in bloom in the park above Togura Station. It usually blooms around Setsubun (the time when Winter changes to Spring), and is called 'setsubunsou'. The dictionary calls it Shibateranthis pinnatifida. I think I like setsubunsou better.
Takamura Miso
地元の味噌屋さんの工場見学にアメリカから来たお客のＪｏｈｎさんを連れて行きました。高村さんのご説明がとっても親切でしたのでいい勉強になりました。工場見学はいつでも出来るようで興味のある方は是非声をかけてください。喜んで案内しますので。
We took our American guest, John, to our local miso shop and got a tour of their facility. It was fascinating to see how miso is made and all of the different varieties. If you are interested in a factory tour, we would be glad to take you.
Olympic Colors ５輪色
長野市の善光寺が毎年のこのごろライトアップされます。五輪の色を使って、とっても綺麗です。

Zenkoji Temple in Nagano City is lit up in the Olympic colors every year at this time. What a breathtakingly beautiful sight, especially with the crisp clear winter night night air.
ポップコーン
今晩は子供達のお客様が多かったので皆さんのデザートの為にロビーでポップコーンを作ってあげました。機会の取っ手をぐるぐる回すのに子供も手伝って、皆で作って、皆だ食べて、楽しかった!
There were a lot of kids as guests tonight, so I called them all down to the lobby and we made popcorn using an old-fashioned popper. The kids had a blast!
お揃い
長野はＫトラが必物です。今日のお客さんの皆がＫトラを乗ってきました。尚且つ、皆が同じメーカーに同じ色!偶然?それかどれだけ便利かとの事?実を言うと、私も一台が欲しいです!薪を運ぶのに最適ですね。
Sometimes it seems like everyone in Nagano has a 'K-truck' mini pick-up. All of our customers today drove one. All the same make, and all the same color. Hey - I want one, too!
been-throwing geisha
温泉の芸者さんが亀清の玄関に豆撒きで見えました。楽しい節分の日でした。
Our town's geisha stopped by to throw peanuts at us, part of the 'Setsubun' tradition to ward off evil spirits.
