Easter Eggs
町の子供達の為にイースターエッグフェスティバルが行われました。この青い目の番頭が町と提供して計画しまして、無事に成功に終わりました。１２０人が参加して、新しい文化を楽しみました。
Happy Easter! We put on an Easter Egg Festival for the town, together with the Ryokan Assoc. and the town's Int'l Relations Assoc., and had 120 people hunt, decorate, and play games with eggs.
Gathering firewood
長野の冬に負けないようにうちの住む部屋に薪ストーブを入れたので来年の冬の為の薪集まりが既に行っています。長野では我々薪ストーブの人達がりんご屋さん達の剪定に手伝って、剪定物を巻きとしてもらう。信州風のお互いさんです。
Early spring is the time we wood burning stove owners start collecting wood for the next winter. Here in Nagano, we stove owners hook up with the apple orchardists and help them with their trimming, receiving wood in return. Reciprocal Relationship, Nagano-style.
木から?
旅館の周りを掃除していた時、近所のおじさんがまだ木に残っている葉っぱまでレーキングの姿を見て、｢どうせ落ちるから、無駄な努力か｣と私が思いました。その後、おじさんが私に「うちの葉っぱがそちらに飛んで、ご迷惑をかけた｣と誤ってきました。だから一生懸命葉っぱを片付けていた！日本人の心が優しくて、感心しました。
While sweeping outside the inn, I saw our neighbor trying to rake leaves down from his tree. I thought it odd, as the leaves would fall naturally anyway. Later, he came and apologized for his leaves blowing onto our property. How kind!
