亀清の手作りの露天風呂の写真は色々と載せさせておりますが、今回は上からの見た露天風呂の写真です。元々はプールだったって分からないぐらいに庭が綺麗に出来ています。今日、ガーデナーの岡田さんが来てくれて、植えた木をチェックしてくれました。皆が元気で冬をすごしているようです。今年の冬がまた暖かい為に、それぞれの花が早く咲く蚊も知れないので一番先に出るヒュウガミズキの黄色い花が楽しみです。
I've posted several pic's of our new outdoor bath (can you tell I'm proud of this little project?), and this time it's a bird's eye view of the hand-made bath. Our gardener, Okada-san, came today to check on the plantings, and gave his (green) thumbs up. With the unseasonably warm winter so far, the flowers may apparently bloom early. First to come should be the yellow blossoms of the 'hyuuga' dogwood.

一昨年に私が上山田神楽保存会に入らせて頂きました。そのころ、もう１人の新しいメンバーが戸倉の方から入りました。「川の向こうから！」と、皆が騒ぎました。私が入ったら、「海の向こうから！」ともっと騒いだ。今度、もう一人の新しいメンバーが入りました：清水さんという女の人です。女性として入るのはなかなか珍しいようです。さすが積極的の上山田お神楽！来週は上田市の老人ホームで披露する予定です。
About the same time I joined Kamiyamada's Okagura Lion Dance Preservation Assoc., there was another new member who came from Togura. Everyone was pleasantly surprised: "A member from the other side of the river!" When I joined, it was another surprise: "A member from the other side of the ocean!" Now, our newest member brings another suprising element to the group: Shimizu-san is ... a lady! That's apparently pretty rare. I think it's great our group is so open-minded. Next week we are going to take the show on the road and perform at a nursing home in nearby Ueda City.
姨捨夜景・伝説ツアーは冬でもやっております。お客様の夕食が終わってから、私が姨捨駅によく連れて行きます。冬は冬で景色がまた綺麗です。この間行った時、駅実態が雪で白くなっていて、いつもよりも可愛いらしかった。
After the guests eat dinner, I always invite them for a tour to see the night view from Obasute Mountain. Some guests brave the cold and even go in the winter. This is picture of Obasute Train Station, wearing a coat of fresh snow.
今日はまた晴れていて、白くなっていた戸隠も綺麗に見えました。千曲川とのツーショットです。

戸倉上山田温泉の銀座通りが注目されている町興しで盛り上がっています。その代表イベントは今日行いました：餅つき大会。私も参加しました。薪割りと似ていますね。
The Ginza here in our Togura Kamiyamada Onsen town is going through an energetic process of renewal. The feature event is the annual Mochi Making party. I got to participate, too. All those muscles I developed chopping wood came in handy!

信州の冬がとにかく寒いです。暖まりたい時に温泉はもちろんありますが、もう一つな場所もある：杏の里アグリパークのトロピカルフルーツガーデン。亀清旅館から来るまで20分。
Winter in Nagano is a very cold affair. Where do we go to warm up? To an onsen of course. But there is another place, too: The Tropical Fruits Garden. It's a short 20-minute drive from Kamesei Ryokan

去年は雪で終わって、今年は雪で始めた。亀清旅館の玄関前の松が雪をかぶって、とっても「和」の雰囲気が出ました。
Last year went out with snow, this year came in with snow. The branches of the pine tree at the entrance of Kamesei Ryokan bears the snow so beautifully.
