5月11日は母のです♪　

皆様はご自分の御母さんに何か準備していますか？

亀清旅館は若旦那・若女将の手作業で花のコサージュを作っています。５月10日・11日にお泊りのお母さん達にこの可愛いコサージュをプレゼントいたします。

まだ空きはございますので、お母さんを連れて温泉宿にお泊りになったら如何でしょうか？

Here at Kamesei Ryokan, Mari and I will once again this year make carnation corsages to give to our guests that stay on Mother's Day weekend.

We still have rooms available, so how about treating your Mom to a relaxing stay at our onsen inn this weekend? We will provide the corsage!

Our garden's 'yamabuki' (Kerria japonica "Japanese rose") is also in bloom. We took a branch to use as the ikebana for one of our guest rooms.

The wall hanging reads,

"Only here and now,
My soul
And your soul."

Seems fitting with the fleeting yellow blossoms of the Japanese rose.

亀清旅館の中庭は長い冬からいきなり起きて来て、彩になりました。木蓮の木が咲いてきました！

Kamesei Ryokan's naka-niwa central garden has awakened after the long winter. Our magnolia tree is in full bloom!

森「あんずの里」は杏生産で日本一。亀清旅館・戸倉上山田温泉から車で約20分で、ちょうど今はその農村の谷の全体が薄いピンクの色で染められています。

この頃、天気は晴れていて、奥に雪をかぶっている戸隠連峰や高妻の山々があんずの花の素晴らしい背景となっています。（よく、この時期に黄砂が発生して、山が見えなくなるけど、今年は空気が澄んでいて、花も山も両方が見えます。）

The apricot trees in Mori "Apricot Village" are in full bloom now. Just a 20 minute car ride (or leisurely 12km bicycle ride), the entire valley is filled with the light pink color of the apricot blossoms.

The weather for the apricot blossom festival this year has been perfect -- a bit chilly but clear skies. Togakushi, Takatsuma and the other snow-covered mountains in the distance provide a picturesque backdrop to the beautiful blossoms.

２月は連続の週末で大雪になりまして、道路や鉄道で色々な不備がありました。しかし、道路は除雪作業だ大分進んでいて、高速道路を始め、主の通りの全てがＯＫです。亀清旅館までの横道は近所の皆さんの努力で除雪になった。長野新幹線は地元のしなの鉄道など、長野の鉄道の全部が予定通りで動いています。

車でも電車でも、今は長野に来る最高なチャンスです。雪景色の信州は格別に綺麗だし、温かい温泉でゆっくり入れて、体がぽかぽかになります。野沢菜や茸鍋など、信州の冬の御馳走も待っています。

是非にこの機会で信州にお越し下さい。私ども亀清旅館、戸倉上山田温泉、そして長野県全体がお待ちしております！

Nagano Prefecture was hit by two consecutive snow storms on the 2nd and 3rd weekends this February. Freeways and roads were closed. Trains stopped running. It was a transportation nightmare.

But the freeways and main roads are cleared of snow now, and thanks to all the neighbors getting together and shoveling, even the side streets like to Kamesei Ryokan are clear. The Nagano Shinkansen, our local Shinano Railway, and all other trains in Nagano Prefecture are back on schedule.

So now is the perfect time to come to Nagano. Transportation is back to normal but Nagano's normally beautiful scenery is especially stunning now with a blanket of snow covering everything. Plus there are the onsen baths to soak in that will warm your body to the core. And Nagano's hearty winter cuisine, with our iconic 'nozawana' pickles and mushroom hotpot stews, will warm your soul.
