戸倉上山田温泉の「東北応援プラン」と連携してチャリティーイベントも開催する予定です。担当者は何と、私でございます。旅館青年部長にもなったので、一石二、三鳥という事で、3つのイベントを計画しています。

6月12日(日）に旅館組合婦人部と連携して、チャリティーバザーと
6月19日(日・父の日）に千曲サイクリングクラブと連携して、ファミリーサイクリング。

そして、まずは明日、5月8日(日・母の日）でお母さんたちの為に花のコサージュをさしあがえる事。今日は旅館青年部夫婦が集まって、温泉の花屋さん「二通園」に作り方を教えて頂きながら、コサージュ作りの作業しました。そして、おかみの会の朝市でお母さん達に自分たちで作った花のコサージュをお母さん達にあげる。ついでに東北支援金箱を置きます。

今日のコサージュ作業で亀清旅館のロビーで集まって、50個を作りました。花屋の二通園さんのＮａｏｋｉさんがコサージュの作り方を教えてくれました。「皆は普段、花を手にする機会がないだろうで、こうやって経験して、嬉しい」と仰ってくれました。

As part of Togura Kamiyamada Onsen's earthquake and tsunami relief efforts, we have a series of charity events planned. I have been put in charge, and have combined a couple of the events with my role as the local ryokan junior association leader. There will be a family fun bicycle ride with the Chikuma Cycling Club for Father's Day, and a charity bazaar with the ryokan proprietress group.

But first, for Mother's Day, I am having the other junior ryokan guys and a few of their wives make flower corsages. We will set up a table at tomorrow morning's outdoor market and give the flowers to mothers as a present. At the same time, we will be accepting donations for the relief.

Today was a work party here at Kamesei Ryokan's lobby. Naoki-san of local flower shop Nitsuen took time to show us the art of corsage making and we worked together to make the 50 corsages to hand out for Mother's Day. Naoki commented how most people don't have an opportunity to handle fresh flowers like this, and that he was glad we all got this experience.

戸倉上山田旅館青年部は毎年のＧＷ連休の最後の日に「牛に引かれて善光寺詣り」という３０ｋｍワーキングイベントを開催しています。今年が何と30回目だ。私は去年、実行委員長だったので、今年は副でした。参加者の322人の面倒を見る作業は朝5時半から、一日かけて、やりました。

通常は「牛に引かれて善光寺」の看板動物(牛)が我がイベントの出立式、途中の休憩と善光寺の参道に登場します。
去年は宮崎県で発生した口蹄疫の事件で牛の参加を自粛になった。今年は牛がちゃんと出てくれました。杏子ちゃんでした。

杏子ちゃんのお蔭(?)で322人の参加者が無事に戸倉上山田温泉から善光寺までお詣りすることが出来ました。

スタッフとして長い一日でしたが、天気にも恵まれて成功に終わって良かった!

Every year on the last day of the Golden Week holiday, our Togura Kamiyamada Ryokan Junior Association holds a 30km walking event from our onsen town to Zenkoji Temple in Nagano City. The event is in honor of the 'Ushi ni hikarete Zenkoji' (Pulled by an Ox to Zenkoji) legend.

This year was the 30th annual edition. 322 people participated in the walk, a sort of pilgrimage to Nagano's most esteemed temple. The other ryokan guys and I, along with a staff of people from the Tourism Association and the JayCees, etc. started at 5:30 this morning, making for a long, long day.

Usually we have a real ox come and make an appearance at the walk's start, midpoint, and again at the end by Zenkoji Temple. Last year, however, there was an outbreak of foot and mouth disease, so the Prefecture requested we rethink the ox idea. This year, however, we were allowed to have Kyoko-chan the ox join us for the event.

The weather (and the ox) cooperated so all 322 people made the pilgrimage without any major problems. It was a long day, but definitely worth it!
