カタクリの花です。亀清の貸し切り露天「しなの風呂」の庭で咲いています。桜や杏のはなも良いですが、こういう地味な春も好きです。
ちなみに、この戸倉上山田温泉の佐良志奈神社でカタクリ祭りが行われた。そんなお祝いすべきな花は、お風呂に入りながら楽しめるのはおそらく我が亀清旅館だけでしょう。
Dog Tooth Violet, currently in bloom in the garden of Kamesei Ryokan's outdoor family bath, 'Shinano-buro'. Cherry blossoms are nice, but I also love this more demure sign of spring.
One of the local shrines here in our onsen town 'Togura Kamiyamada' held a Katakuri Festival today in honor of a gathering of these violets growing in the wild. Here at Kamesei you can enjoy these festival-worthy flowers as you soak in our onsen.

高遠の有名な桜、初めて見ました。咲き具合は8部だったが、その特殊な桜がとっても綺麗。
時期的に戸倉上山田温泉の近くの森「杏の里」と重なるので、高遠の方はスケールが大きいがある意味でライバルかな？
悔しかったのは、高遠のお客さんの約半分が中国人だった。他言語パンフやアナウンスがあったし。森の杏の海外からのお客さんが0に近い。何、この違い⁈ 高遠は中央高速道路に近いから？中国人は杏の花を喜ぶと思いますが。

戸倉上山田温泉の桜名所が亀清旅館の裏にある中央公園。この地域は杏の花で有名ですが、桜もちゃんとあります。今年は普段より１週間ぐらい早く咲きました。ちょうど満開です。

おかみの会の花見は合わせて、４月１０-１２日に行われるそうです。屋台を出しますので、毎年は盛り上がります。どうぞ、いらっしてください。

As you probably know, cherry trees are called 'Sakura' in Japanese. But have you heard of 'Yozakura'? Sakura lit up at night ('yoru').  The park behind Kamesei Ryokan, Chuo Park, is the main Sakura spot for our onsen town, Togura-Kamiyamada.  The Ladies Guild has lanterns put up, creating the perfect Yozakura ambience.  This weekend, April 10-12, the guild members will set up a tent and serve warm food and cold beer for the hanami (flower viewing) revelers.  Won't you come join the fun?

森「日本一杏の里」にシアトルから来てくれているママとパパを連れて来ました。まだ満開で綺麗です。それからは定番の杏アイスを頂きました。

森「日本一杏の里」、上の方のスケッチパーク辺りも満開！お昼は天気も温かくて良かったし。もう、春だ！

お客さんの送迎の途中で寄ってみました。二日間前にも行ったが、あっという間で花はスイッチオンって感じ。

ただ、心配は夕方から強い風で夜中から雨の予想。花は大丈夫かな？皆さん、早目に見に来てくださいね。

The famous apricot blossoms of nearby Mori are in full bloom. Spring is finally here!

I stopped by today on the way to drop off some guests, and was surprised to see the blossoms in full bloom.  Just 2 days ago, they were just starting.  It's as if someone turned on a switch.

Weather this afternoon was nice and warm.  From the evening, though, a strong wind picked up and rain is expected overnight.  Our poor apricot blossoms!  Everyone, please come to see them as soon as you can!

Yesterday was pictures of the famous apricot blossoms in Mori. Today it's Kyohoen's orchard just north of our onsen town, Togura-Kamiyamada. Flowers in full bloom, clear blue sky and a gentle spring breeze -- perfect!

亀清旅館の客間「千歳」の坪庭にこの杏の木があります。恐らく、唯一杏の木のある著間の客室？！今週は千歳にお泊りになるお客様がこの花を楽しんで頂けます。そして、６月末・７月上旬にお泊りになる方は部屋で杏狩りで出来ます！

森「日本一杏の郷」にも行ってみましたが、標高が若干高いか、向きが北向きの為か、まだ咲き始まったところです。これからは大分温かくなる予報で、どんどんと咲いてくるでしょう。

Apricot blossoms in full bloom -- here at Kamesei Ryokan.  Our guest room "Chitose" has an apricot tree in its tsubo-niwa pocket garden -- perhaps the only such ryokan room in all of Japan!  Guests staying in this room can enjoy the blossoms all this week, and then guests staying here at the end of June / early July can enjoy picking fresh apricots.

The famous blossoms in nearby Mori, Japan's #1 Apricot Village, have just started blooming.  I drove there today and took this picture.  But the weather is warming up, so they should be in full bloom in just a matter of days.  Will keep you posted!

戸倉上山田温泉の「姨捨夜景ツアー」は私も含めて当温泉のボランティアー達が有志でガイドしています。善光寺平を一目で見れる景色を案内しています。

そして、私の次の出番が今週の土曜日、3月7日です。

それぞれのガイドは特徴があります。リンゴ育ちや戦国時代の歴史、鉄道のうんちくなど、皆は専門知識が違います。私はちなみにいつもこの戸倉上山田周辺の伝説の話をさせて頂いております。先輩方に教えて頂いたこの地ならでのストリーは沢山ありますよ。

出発は夜7:50分ごろ。料金は1000円。姨捨駅の来場記念切符、味噌や絵葉書のお土産付き。

実は、4月から2000円に値上げになるからチャンスですよ。そして、我が亀清旅館で3月7日の予約のキャンセルがありましたので空き部屋がございますから、それこそチャンス！

Togura-Kamiyamada Onsen's Obasute Night View Tour is usually accompanied by a local guide.  We take turns volunteering to guide the groups to Obasute Station to see the night view of the Zenkoji Plain down below.

My next turn is this Saturday, 07-March. 

Each of us guides has our own particular area of specialty.  Apple-growing, the region's samurai history, train trivia -- we all specialize in different things.  Mine is local legends.  I have been fortunate to have been taught several local tales by my 'senpai' superiors here, and it's fun to pass on the knowledge to visitors.

The Tour will depart around 7:50pm and costs 1000 yen, including a souvenir platform ticket from Obasute Station, a pack of miso paste, and a souvenir post card.

Actually, starting April, the price will double, so now is a great chance.  And, here at Kamesei, we had some cancelations so we still have availability for the 7th -- so it really is a great chance!
