おもろい花びら
戸倉上山田温泉に散歩したら、この面白い花びらを見つけました。同じ木なのに白のピンクの赤の花びら。最初は桜だと思ったが、もしかしたら「ボケ」かな？週末は雨の予想ですけど、雨が降ってもこういう花は楽しめます。
While strolling around Togura Kamiyamada Onsen, I came across these intersting blossoms: red and pink and white flowers all on the same tree. At first I thought it was a cherry tree, but on closer inspection I think it's perhaps a 'boke' tree. Rain is forecasted for the weekend, but if with rain you can still enjoy the colorful blossoms.

この度、長野に聖火リレーが来るのを前に、広く一般の方々にチベットの問題を知って欲しいとの願いから、映画「Tibet Tibet」の上映会を開催することにいたしました。合わせてキム・スンヨン監督をお招きしての講演も決定しました。 以下詳細です。

Fellow Lion Dancers at the Chishikiji Festival
戸倉上山田温泉の近くの知識時は毎年４月１７日に祭りを行います。この日に限って、普段に閉まっている十一面観音が展示される。そして、お寺の本は腐らないように風を通す式も。今日はイギルスからのお客様二人を連れて行きました。亀清の若女将の子供のころと比較したら、この祭りは随分さびしくなったそうです。イギリスの二人も言っていましたが、今の人は昔の伝統を守らなくなったと、悲しんでいました。
私はその「風を通す」式は始めて見ました。こういう地元の祭りはなかなかいいのですよ。今日は私が上山田お神楽保存会の皆様と一緒に披露しました。そうやってこういう祭りをなるべく応援したいと思っております。
Every April 17th, our local Buddhist temple, Chishikiji, holds its "11-Faced Kannnon (Goddess of Mercy) Festival". The Kannon figure is usually put away for the rest of year, and is brought out for viewing on this one day. The monks also do a special ceremony where they fan out the pages of the sacred scirpts to keep the paper from deteriating.
We had a couple of guests staying from the UK, so I invited them along to see the festival. It is an extremely local festival, and has lost a lot of its popularity in recent years. The Brits and I and some of the locals were lamenting the loss of traditions in our respective countries. But there is something bittersweet that I like about these local traditions. Today I took part in the Okagura Lion Dance, with my shishi flute. In this way, I hope to support the local traditions.

「杏の里」の花、特に上の方、はまだ満開です。今日は常連のお客様、佐藤さん達、を連れて、ご案内いたしました。戸倉駅の裏の天狗パークの桜の道を通って、地元の人達しか知らない近道で杏の里を上から入りました。杏も桜も、この時期はマジックのように。
I took some guests to go see the apricot blossoms at nearby Anzu-no-Sato (Apricot Homeland). The Satoh's are regular guests of ours. We took the road that goes through the cherry trees of Tengu Park (behind Togura Station) and went on the short cut that only the locals know about. The Apricots blossoms were still in peak form, and the cherry blossoms were so beautiful, too -- what a magical time of the year.

Engineer Bono-san
以前に「長野インバウンドサミット」の事を書いたので今日はその関係で白馬に行って来ました。そこの参加者の一人がこのBonoさんでした。Bonoさんの宿にお邪魔させて頂きました。モデルトレインがあるって聞きましたが、こんな多きいいセットだと知りませんでした。亀清では機関車トーマスの木造のセットを作っていますが、大きさ的にはこの２０分の一です。Bonoさん、これからも宜しくお願いいたします。
In previous posts, I've mentioned about the Nagano Inbound Summit. Today, I went to Hakuba for a meeting there. One of the participants was Bono-san. Afterwards, we checked out his inn and played with his cool train set. Thanks for your hospitality, Bono-san.

上山田温泉の中央公園の桜
桜は夜のライトアップが最近にはやっていますが、朝日の光で一番綺麗ではないかと思います。亀清旅館の裏の中央公園の桜です。今週末（４月１８日、１９日）は戸倉上山田温泉の女将の会の提供で屋台が出る予定です。花見へどうぞ！
It's a sort of fad to have cherry blossom 'illumination' festivals at night now, but I think the blossoms are at their prettiest in the early morning light. Pictured are the 'sakura' in Chuo Park behind our inn.
初春の露天風呂
亀清旅館の露天風呂の初春です。あちらこちらで植物が冬眠から出てきています。何が出てくるか、何が咲いてくるか、お楽しみですね。
This is Kamesei's outdoor bath's first spring. Already some new growth is sprouting in the garden. I can't wait to see what plants and flowers come out.

亀清旅館の裏の中央公園の桜がほぼ満開
信州って、主には２シーズン：グリーンとホワイトです。しかし、雪が解けてから新緑が入るまでの間がどちらかというと、ブラウンになってしまいます。そのしかし、グリーンが始まる直前に、一時的にピンクになります。梅に杏に桜に桃に。戸倉上山田温泉のあちらこちらがピンクの花びらできれいになりました。
Nagano has 2 main seasons: Green and White. But after the snow melts, and before the spring leaves start to grow, it ends up being pretty Brown. However, just before the Green season starts, we have a brief Pink season thanks to the flowering trees blooming -- plum, apricot, cherry, peach, etc. Around our onsen town, there are spots of pink all over the place.
