New Old Label for Local Sake 'Obasute Masamune'

Nostalgic Label

A sake brewery with a history of over 300 years.

Rice from the legendary moon-reflecting Obasute terraced rice fields.

Water from a local artesian spring.

This is Togura Kamiyamada Onsen's 'Jizake' (local sake) -- Obasute Masamune.

And lately, Obasute Masamune's sake bottles have taken on a new look. Or, I should say, a new 'old' look. They've done away with the recent modern design, and went back to the original one that features an ukiyoe-like illustration of Obasute Mountain and the terraced rice fields, along with the words 'Junmaishu' pertaining to the high grade of their sake.

The old folks in these parts have taken a liking to the 'new' nostalgic-look label. To me, it emphasizes the historical-ness of the Obasute brewery.
