今日は長野県旅館青年部のセミナーで隣の隣の上田市の上の菅平に出かけました。上には雪の予想だった為に、車のタイヤーをストッドレスに変えてから出かけました。途中で上田の電気製品屋さんによって、親の為のクリスマスの買い物をしました。
その中で、ブログに書けるような内容はあるかな・・・と悩んだ時、お店から出たら、隣の上田城を見て、あっ、これだ！と思いました。上田城は久しぶりに見たし、こうやって下から見る機会はあまり無い。やっぱり、日本のお城は格好良いなと改めて思いました。但し、下隣は派手な電気製品屋さんがあるって、また日本らしいミスマッチ。
Today I had to go up to Suga-Daira, the ski area above neighboring Ueda City, for a ryokan junior association seminar. The weather report called for snow in the higher elevations, so I changed the tires on our car to snow tires. On the way through Ueda, I stopped at an electronics store to do some Christmas shopping for my parents. All along, I kept thinking, where is a blog-worthy story here? Then when I came out of the store and looked across the parking lot, there was Ueda Castle up on the hill. I hadn't seen Ueda Castle for a while, especially not from this angle. I had forgotten just how cool Japan's castles were. And right next to the castle -- a garish electronics store. A uniquely Japanese mis-match!
