我々旅館若旦那達が１４日１５日の温泉祭りを向かって、及び町興しの行事で最近ちょっと疲れてきました。ストレス発散を含めて、今日は温泉の足風呂付のビールガーデンでバーベキューをやりました。若旦那らしい味の拘りも。
Lately, the other innkeepers and I have been busy with preparations for our upcoming festival as well as our various projects. In order to burn off some of that stress, we held a bbq at our onsen's beer garden.

今週の土曜日の大会の向かって、町の消防団が一生懸命訓練しています。毎日朝５時から。頑張って下さい！我々アメ人が消防団を憧れますの応援しております。
Our local fire department outfit is getting ready for the big competition this coming Saturday. They practice every morning starting at 5am. In the States, firemen are much revered, so I enjoy rooting for our local guys. Good luck at the competition!

４月から１０月末ごろまで、毎週の日曜日の朝６時から８時まで温泉の真ん中の公園でちょっとした朝市が行います。新鮮な野菜や、そば、植木物など。時期によって杏やりんごとか。早起きの方に是非。
そして、今週から毎週の金曜日の午後６時半から８時まで夕市も！
ちなみに、今日の朝市は私が手作りのクッキーを売りました。人気過ぎて、売り切れになってしまいました!
Every Sunday morning, from April to the end of October, our town has a mini farmer's market in the park in the middle of the onsen. But you have to wake up early -- it's over at 8am. Starting this week, there will be a 2nd market every Friday evening at 6:30pm. For this morning's market, I sold some of my Mom's recipe cookies. They sold out fast!

今年は温泉街の側の川沿いの公園でイースター（復活祭）の祭りがまた行われました。私が待ちの国際交流協会と温泉旅館組合の協力を得て、地元の子供達は約１２０人が集まって、異文化のイベントを楽しめました。
This morning we held an Easter Egg Hunt at the park down at the river in front of the town. I enjoyed sharing some of my Western culture with the local kids.

温泉の芸者さんが亀清の玄関に豆撒きで見えました。楽しい節分の日でした。

Our town's geisha stopped by to throw peanuts at us, part of the 'Setsubun' tradition to ward off evil spirits.

旅館青年部の行事のきかけで銀座通りという商店街の看板造りの作業が行いました。私も手伝わせていただきました。

Our town's Ginza Dori shopping district had a work party today to make signs for the entrances. I got to help out with some of the woodwork.

15日に温泉街で市のハロウィーン祭りが行われて、私が実行委員長として活躍して、地元の子供たち130人が仮装を付け、Trick or Treatでお菓子をもらいに回りました。子供達の笑顔で言えば大成功でした。余ったかぼちゃの約50個がうちの玄関の前で飾ってありますので見に来て下さい。
Our town's Halloween Party was held on the 15th. We had 130 costumed kids trick-or-treating around the spa's business district, with myself in charge of the organizing committee. There are about 50 pumpkins decorating the front of our inn - quite festive!

上山田温泉の近くの山にキノコはこんなに沢山の種類があるって知りませんでした。今日、観光会館で展示会が行われました。どれが毒か、どれが食べれるか、どれが食べたら死んでしまうぎらいに毒か、色々な説明がありました。尚且つ、キノコたっぷり入っているおうどんもありました。〔勿論、毒じゃない方のキノコ〕
信州：キノコ天国ですね！
I had no idea there are so many different varieties of wild mushrooms out there. Our town put on a display of dozens of varities, all picked yesterday in the nearby mountains. Mushroom picking, anyone?

上山田温泉の夏祭りが15，16日に行われました。人数が足りなくて、この来たばかり、右も左も知らない外人が祭典委員になってしまい、｢わっしょい！わっしょい！｣というより、皆のサポートとなりました。迫力ある祭りで是非来年に見に来てください。
Kamiyamada Onsen's Summer Festival was held on the 15th and 16th. I was selected to be a member of the organizing committee, hence the official outfit. The festival has an amazing amount of energy -- come and check it out next year!

町の子供達の為にイースターエッグフェスティバルが行われました。この青い目の番頭が町と提供して計画しまして、無事に成功に終わりました。１２０人が参加して、新しい文化を楽しみました。

Happy Easter! We put on an Easter Egg Festival for the town, together with the Ryokan Assoc. and the town's Int'l Relations Assoc., and had 120 people hunt, decorate, and play games with eggs.
