露天風呂作りは又一歩進みました。アプローチのデッキは形になりました。明日は綺麗に磨いて、ステインをかける予定です。完成が段々と近づいています。
The deck part of the approach for our outdoor bath took shape today. Tomorrow I'll sand and stain it. The bath will be ready for using soon!

ガーデンデザイナーの岡田さんが又来てくれて、今日は露天風呂のアプローチを作りました。これからは庭の方の工事を本格的に始まります。完成はあと一ヶ月かな？
Mr. Okada, our garden designer, came by again today to help out. Together we built the stone step approach for the outdoor bath. We should have it ready for guests in about a month!

この可愛いお子さん達が泊まりに着てくれました。機関車トーマスの木造おもちゃを貸し出しましたので大喜びでした。
These cute little guys came and spent the night here at Kamesei Ryokan. We let them borrown our kids' Thomas and Friends wooden train set, and they had a blast with the toys.

市の毎年のふれあい広場は今日行いました。私が国際交流協会のブースで手伝いました。うちの子供達も連れて行きましたので子供がこのミニＳＬに乗れて楽しめた。
Today was our city's annual 'Fureai Hiroba'. I helped out at the International Exchange Assoc. booth. Our kids tagged along, and got to ride this mini steam engine train.

この夏のプロジェクト、露天風呂作り、が段々と完成に近付いています。今度はお風呂の周りの竹の塀を作るので、そのために今日は竹を収穫しました。知り合いの竹畑で。又初体験！
Next step in my big outdoor bath project for is a bamboo fence. Today I harvested the bamboo for it at a friend's forest. I had to chase away all the panda bears to get to the bamboo. Just kidding! But there were all kinds of spiders and beetles and geckoes. My kids had a blast.

この夏に作っている露天風呂にプライバシーの為にこの塀を作っています。今日は取り敢えず形が出来て、明日は仕上がりを。材料はログホームを作る知り合いから頂いた杉皮です。Our big project this summer has been making an outdoor bath. Today I put together this privacy fence. Tomorrow I'll add the finishing touches to it. The fence is made of cedar bark that I got from a log house builder acquaintance.

露天風呂の庭の為にガーデンデザイナーと今日打ち合わせしました。図面が段々とそろってきましたので９月末上記する予定です。それまでに露天風呂の完成が出来るかな？
Today I met with our garden designer to finalize the plans for our outdoor bath's garden. The last week of September is our target for installation.

この夏は亀清旅館に露天風呂を作っています。お風呂実態は入れる状態で、今度は庭です。まずは沢山の土が要ります。町の建設会社から土を頂ける事になっていますので今日は土袋を持って行って、ショベルカーを借りて、積みました。(初体験でした。面白かった！）
Our summer project here at Kamesei Ryokan is to build an outdoor bath. The bath is partially finished so now I have to start on the garden. A local construction company offered to give us dirt so I took some bags (yes, dirt bags) and borrowed their power shovel and filled them today. That was a lot of fun!

この夏の大きいプロジェクト：亀清旅館の裏で露天風呂を手作業で作る！露天風呂実態はも入れる状態でこれから庭つくりを。昨日は庭のメインのオブジェの形が出来上がりました。昔、上山田温泉で温泉の源泉を掘った時に、蒸気の機械を使って櫓があって、３年間かけて掘ったりしたそうです。温泉会社からその櫓の柱を頂いて、組み立ちました。裏のアパートの目隠しにもなるし、お風呂の雰囲気にもなる。これからもっと櫓っぽく作ります。お楽しみに！
This summer's big project is making an outdoor bath behind Kamesei Ryokan. The hot spring mineral bath itself is ready for bathing, so now I'm working on the surrounding garden. The first step is putting together a sort of oil rig that was used to drill the onsen wells in the area. I got the timbers from the Onsen Company (they were going to be thrown away) and put them in place, as shown in the picture. The derrick will provide some privacy from the apartment behind us, as well as giving a sense of onsen history. There's still lots of work left to be done on it, but we're off to a good start!

この夏の私の大きいプロジェクトがだんだんと進んでいます。亀清旅館の裏に露天風呂を作っています。今日はお湯を始めて入れてみました。温度は思ったより高かったが、漏れはやはりありました。漏れを直しながら、周りに庭を作っていきます野で８月末までに何とか完成したいです。
My big project this summer is to make an outdoor bath behind Kamesei Ryokan. Today we tested it out by filling it with the hot spring mineral water. The temperature was warmer than I was expecting, but we did have some leaks. I'll be fixing the leaks as I work on the garden around the pool, in the hopes of completing it by the end of August.
