夕べは金沢からの遠藤さん達と新潟からの管野さん達と姨捨夜景・伝説ツアーに行ってきました。そしたら、ちょうど地元の長野放送TVの撮影に当りました。１１月９日の夕方ニュースの特集になるようです。良かったら、是非ご覧になってください。
Last night I escorted the Endo's from Kanazawa and the Kanno's from Niigata on a tour to Obasute to see the night view. We ended up getting taped by a local tv station and will be on tomorrow night's 6pm news on NBS!

この間、生放送のテレビにも馬鹿にされました(サブロクモンキース様、有難うございました！）、亀清旅館の玄関の非常口の照明器具が非常に大きかったです。今日はこの小さいのに取り替えました。（写真の移りが非常に悪くて、すみません。）改善だ！
As was recently commented on live TV, Kamesei's Emergency Exit sign used to be ridiculously huge. Today I installed a modern sign -- so much nicer!

去年の冬に亀清旅館のロビーに薪ストーブを付けました。このごろ又寒くなってきたので久しぶりにその暖炉を使っています。この間、ロビーに入ったらこの場面に当りました。｢この為に薪ストーブを入れた｣と思いました。
Last winter we put a wood burning stove in the lobby here at Kamesei Ryokan. As it has started to get chilly again, we have been making good use of it. The other day, I went to the lobby and saw this heart-warming scene.

亀清旅館のお風呂が偉いことになりました。週末に戸倉上山田温泉にそば祭が行い、その中で足風呂が出来る。我が宿が一番近いのでそのお湯が私達の提供です。その為に、温泉会社が臨時的にうちのお湯を増やした。従って、日曜日まではお湯の量が多くて、亀清のお風呂がスーパー温泉になった！(その分で温泉の成分も凄い！足が真っ黒になった！掃除したからもう大丈夫だけど、時にには凄かった！）
Kamesei Ryokan's mineral bath is on steroids! For this weekend's Soba Festival's foot bath, the onsen company has to pull the hot spring water from us, so they temporarily increased our flow. Along with the flow came a bunch of minerals, enough to turn the bottom of your foot black!

亀清旅館のロビーの薪ストーブの今年の発使いです。ストーブの火はやはりやさしいですね。女将社長が曰く、コタツなどの発使いは本来なら犬の日が正しい出そうですが、１９日まで待てなくて。。。
We fired up the wood burning stove in Kamesei's lobby for the first time this season. Our okami-san said in the old days you used to wait for a 'dog day' to do so, but we can't wait until the 19th -- it's getting cold already!

親戚のみどりさんが周辺の山から野の花を集めてきて、こんなに綺麗なアレーンジを作ってくれました。亀清旅館のロビーに展示しております。
Cousin Midori gathered wildflowers in the nearby mountains and made this beautiful arrangement for us. We have it displayed in our lobby here at Kamesei Ryokan.

亀清旅館では、お茶菓子として、私の母親のレシピーで私の手作りのクッキーをよく出しております。そのレシピーは良く聞かれます。｢人に教えてしまえば、自分達で作るだけで亀清に来なくなるよ！｣と注意はされました。まあ、そんな小さい事。。。ここでレシピーを付けますので作る時に亀清の事を思い出して下さいね。(私が作る時に私のお母さんの事を思い出すように。）
Here at Kamesei Ryokan, the sweets we serve with tea are homemade cookies from my Mom's recipe, made by me. We get asked for the recipe quite often. Some advise me not to give it away -- that way people would have to come here if they want the cookies. Such a selfish thought! Here is the recipe. Please think of Kamesei when you use it (just as I think of my Mom when I bake the cookies).

この連休でバイク乗りのグループは２つも来てくれました。うちの美咲ちゃんも｢格好いい！｣と喜んでいます。

This holiday weekend we had 2 groups of bikers stay with us. Our daughter Misaki was ecstastic.

Matsutake mushrooms are a Fall delicacy. White rice cooked with matsutake, 'nabe' hot pot with matsutake, matsutake soup... How will our chef use matsutake today?
