The garden's new residents
亀清の庭師、岡田さんからの写真とストーリです：
露天風呂のメンテをしていて、コナラの木の中程に出たり入ったりする鳥がいました。
もしやと思い覗いてみたら、葉にかくれた枝の間に、上手につくった鳥の巣がありました。
まだまだ小さなヒナが5匹程いました。
農薬も化学肥料も使わない自然任せの雑木林の庭が、
人、植物、虫、鳥などが共生する里山のような環境になってきたことが嬉しいですね。
百年露天風呂を囲む「自然を育む雑木の庭」ですね。
露天風呂の庭にやってきた新しい住人を、一度見てみてください。
Our Gardener, Okada-san, was doing his regular maintenance yesterday. While working on the garden around our 100 Year Bath outdoor onsen, he saw a bird flitting in and out of the 'konara' (Quercus serrata) tree. On a hunch, he took a peak inside the leaves, and sure enough, between a couple of branches was an expertly built nest, with 5 little newborn birds in it.
Okada-san is proud these birds decided to move into the garden he built for us. It shows what a natural setting he created, and how he isn't using any chemicals that would harm the environment and keep birds away.
夏の雑木林の庭。濃い緑が涼やかです。
一番後ろの竹と同じ高さのコナラの木の2mくらいの場所に巣があります。タイラーさんなら覗けるかも。この葉っぱの裏側です。
少し枝を除けて、覗いてみると枝の間に巣があります。中にはヒナが居ました。
