Grouses from last year
去年の8月にこのプロバスケのチーム、富山Ｇｒｏｕｓｅｓが亀清旅館に泊まりました。その時に、長野県にもプロバスケのチームを作る動きがありました。先日のニュースでbj-leagueの2011・12年のシーズンに長野を含めて4つの新しいチームができるそうです。試合は長野県のそれぞれの会場で行うけど、この千曲市が中心になるそうです。ホームコートは戸倉上山田温泉の近く。
私の地元のシアトル(人口50万人）はプロバスケのＳｏｎｉｃｓがＯｋｌａｈｏｍａに移ってしまいました。まさか私の新しいホーム、戸倉上山田(人口2万人？）にプロバスケのチームができると思いませんでした。これからの長野チームの設立は楽しみですね。戸倉上山田の存在アップになれば良い。
Last August, a pro basketball team from neighboring Toyama Prefecture, the Grouses, played an exhibition game in Nagano and spent the night here at Kamesei Ryokan. A group of promoters were trying to form a Nagano expansion team for the bj-league. The news just recently reported that 4 new expansion teams had been decided for the 2011-2012 season, including one from ... Nagano! Apparently the team will play at courts throughout the prefecture, but their "home" will be here in Chikuma City, at a court near our onsen town, Togura Kamiyamada.
This is an ironic twist of fate for me. My hometown back in the States, Seattle, recently lost its pro basketball team, the Sonics. I had no idea my adoptive home town of Togura Kamiyamada, with a population 1/25th the size, would get a pro team. But it should be a bonus for our onsen town, and I am looking forward to seeing how things progress.
