Inariyama Neighborhood's New Walking Guide
稲荷山は千曲市の善光寺街道・蔵の町として知られている。その蔵は年々に少なくなってきているし、残っている蔵は段々崩れてきているけど、ディズニーランドの様に造り上がった何ちゃった歴史の村より、日本の江戸時代の面影が感じて、個人的に大きく応援しています。
去年に出来た稲荷山のパンフに続いていて、この新しいウォーキングガイドが出来ました。稲荷山の戦国時代の歴史(1ページ）、江戸時代(2ページ）、明治・大正時代(2ページ）と昭和・平成(1ページ）の説明と、稲穂の風ウォークと路地の風ウォークの2つの散策コースが載っています。キャフェや飲食店、買い物ところも載っていて、レンタサイクル（！）の紹介もある。
Inariyama is one of Chikuma City's most historical neighborhoods with numerous earthen walled 'kura' storehouses dating back from the area's Edo-era heydays as a mercantile and transport center on the Zenkoji Kaido path between Matsumoto and Zenkoji Temple in Nagano City. Every year, more and more of the storehouses get torn down, and the ones that remain are in various stages of decay. But so many touristy 'historical districts' have been so Disneyfied that the hardly bear any resemblence of their original facade. I personally am a big fan of Inariyama.
Hence I was delighted to see that a new Walking Guide came out for Inariyama. Unfortunately, no English but lots of pictures, as well as new about a new rental cycle program. Will investigate and revert!
稲荷山は散策にも最適だし、自転車で巡るのにも向いています。私はその江戸時代の土壁の蔵の雰囲気が大好きで、稲荷山の細い道を自転車で通るのは好き。レンタサイクルも出来たらしいし、日本の消えて行っている街並みをサイクリングしてみよう。
The Inariyama neighborhood is perfect for a stroll, but is also great for cycling. I love cycling the narrow lanes lined by ancient earthen-walled storehouses. And now Inariyama has rental cycles. Come and explore one of Japan's slowly disappearing Edo-period neighborhoods!

稲荷山に個性的なレストラン(私の一番の気に入りがお好み焼きの「シルキー」）とお店があります。この間は亀清の若女将と和菓子屋さんの栄泉堂さんに寄ってみました。色んな工夫したスイーツを作っていますので、稲荷山巡りの際、寄ってみれば美味しいもののゲットが出来る。
The Inariyama neighborhood has several great restaurants (my favorite is the okonomiyaki shop "Silky") and shops. My wife Mari and I recently went to Eisendo, a shop that makes Japanese confectionaries. I was surprised to see such a variety of yummy sweets. I think I'll be making Eisendo a regular stop on my visits to Inariyama.
