日本の高速道路のサービスエリアは我々外国人に人気があるのです。例えば、話によると、中国からの旅行者はSAの無料お茶サービスが好きだそうです。私は今日に寄ったSAで驚いたのはコンシェルジュがあった事です。米国の高速道路のレストエリアにトイレと案内地図ぐらいしかない；コンシェルジュはまずないです。日本のSAはガス・スタンドや食堂が付いているけれど、１つずつしかない。アメリカの場合は出口に降りたら沢山のGSやレストランのチェイン店があるから好きなのを選べます。尚且つ、高速道路が無料ですし、出口は頻繁的にあるから自由に降りたり乗ったり出来る。日本の場合は出口と出口の間に距離があるし、出口に降りたら、必ずあるのはなぜかラブホぐらいです。不思議やね。そして、アメリカのRAにお茶サービスがないきれど、代わりに協会などのボランティアーのグループがドネーション制でコーヒーや手造りクッキーがよくあります。でも、コンシェルジュはないです。それが日本の勝ちですね。
まあ、とにかく、コンシェルジュの綺麗なお姉さん達の写真を提供しますので今回の日米関係は以上です。
We foreigners really like the Service Areas at Japan's Expressways. For example, I've heard the free tea service is really popular with travelers from China. At the SA I stopped at today, I was really surprised to see a real, live concierge. Freeway Rest Areas back in the States have toilets and maybe an area map, but you will never find an actual concierge. SA's in Japan often have cafeterias and gas stations. RA's in the States don't have those, but you can freely get on and off at any exit and choose from any number of gas and restaurant chain stores. In Japan, the exits are few and far between, and it costs you to get on and off. Plus, the only thing you can usually find near the exit is a Love Hotel (don't ask).
RA's don't have free tea, but you'll often find a church group with coffee and donuts for donations. But one thing you won't find is a concierge -- that's one area that Japan has the advantage.
