戸倉上山田温泉盆踊り大会2013年は8月13日（火）から15日（木）まで行います。毎晩は上山田温泉本通りが歩行者天国となり、盆踊りと我々将校青年部の夜店（焼き鳥、ポップコーン、綿飴、金魚すくい、射的など）で賑わい。

Our onsen town Togura-Kamiyamada will once again hold a Bon-Odori festival during the O-Bon holiday. The dates for 2013 will once again be from August 13th to the 15th. We will close off Kamiyamada Onsen's main street to cars and open it up one of our area's biggest Bon-Odori dances. Me and my fellow Junior Chamber of Commerce members will set up tents and sell yakitori chicken, cotton candy etc. and offer goldfish catching, shateki target shooting and other games.

Each day will also have additional entertainment:

Tuesday 8/13: Huge Bingo Game (win a free stay at Kamesei!)
Wednesday 8/14: Kamuriki Taiko performance
Thursday 8/15: Watermelon splitting game

千曲市のNPO「千曲の森」が市の新しいフリーペーパーを発行しました：　すいっち

千曲市の良いところ、良い「人」の情報を発信する。

シンプルなデザインでフリーペーパーと思えない奥深い記事と芸術的な写真、ちょっと気に入りました。

亀清旅館の玄関におかしておりますので、お客様にも好評です。

高村さんは私の町興しの仲間です。

私達に関心のある二人の人物です。

その貴重な二人のお話を読みながら、千曲市の新しいスイッチをオンする、新しいフリーペーパー「すいっち」。

Chikuma City has a new free magazine called "Switch". Published by an nature preservation NPO called 'Chikuma no Mori', the magazine has a simple, clear layout, very artistic photography, and unusually (for a free rag) indepth articles.

The inaugural issue features an article describing the NPO's activities, as well as features on 2 important individuals:

Miyagi-san, the owner of gourmet 'tsukemono' (pickles) maker Konohana,

and

Takamura-san, an architect dedicated to enlivening the historical Inariyama district.

Kamesei's proprietress has invited Miyagi-san to give a talk to the Kamiyamada Ladies Guild before, and Takamura-san is one of my civic improvement compatriots, so we here at Kamesei have a deep interest in these two.

すいっちSwitch

今年から、戸倉上山田温泉の新しいバスは2つが出来ました。その1つ目は松本駅からのぽっかぽか号♪

松本駅からは
駅アルプス口13:35発、松本城・鹿教湯温泉・別所経由、
戸倉上山田温泉15:25着

帰りは
戸倉上山田温泉9:50発、別所・鹿教湯温泉・松本城経由、
松本駅11:40着

料金は片道3500円、　往復6500円

運行期間は2013/7/20～2014/3/31　（年末始運休）

ご予約は信州観光バス026-272-8100 ２日前まで　２名から

亀清旅館にお越しになるお客様にいつもどこを寄ってきたかと聞きますが、松本城はやはり、人気があります。電車で松本まで来た方はお城を見てからこの便利なぽっかぽか号のバスで気楽で来れます。

と言いながら、１時間50分で3500円で1日に一本だけとは電車と比較したらどうかなと。松本ー姨捨は大体1時間に一本でたった50分と740円。姨捨駅からは亀清の送迎。ぽっかぽか号ちゃんは難しいかも。もう一つの新しいバスはまだ利点がある。

This year there are 2 new busses servicing Togura Kamiyamada Onsen. The first is the Pokka Poka Bus from Matsumoto Station.

From Matsumoto:
Depart from the Station's Alps Entrance 13:35, stop at Matsumoto Castle, route via Kakeyu and Bessho Onsens, arrive Togura Kamiyamada Onsen at 15:25.

Return:
Depart Togura Kamiyamada Onsen 9:50, route via Bessho and Kakeyu Onsens, stop at Matsumoto Castle, arrive the station at 11:40.

Price: 3500 yen 1-way, 6500 yen round trip.

Bus runs daily from July 20th 2013 to April 31st 2014 (except during the New Years holiday).

I always ask our guests here at Kamesei Ryokan where they did their sightseeing on the way here, and Matsumoto Castle is definitely one of the more popular places. So for guests that take the train to Matsumoto, this Pokka Poka Bus would be a convenient way to come to our onsen town, Togura-Kamiyamada.

However, to be honest, with only 1 run a day, and it taking nearly 2 hours and costing 3500 yen, I can't help but think the train would be a better option. There is a local train from Matsumoto Station to Obasute Station that runs basically once an hour, takes only 50 minutes and costs only 740 yen. And we here at Kamesei Ryokan gladly provide pick-up at Obasute Station. Me thinks this Pokka Poka Bus is going to be a difficult sell. So let's look at the 2nd bus.

This year, the Isamu Shishi massive 40-person lion as well as the 4 mikoshi (parade floats / portable shrines) stopped at Kamesei Ryokan. Our inn is an inconvenient distance from the main parade route, but I pleaded with the organizers and had them stop this year. What an honor!

All of our guests for the weekend agreed -- Kamiyamada Onsen's summer festival has an amazing amount of energy!

Day 1.

Started out drizzly, but ended burning with energy!

2013年の戸倉上山田温泉夏祭りは7月13日（土）と14日（日）です。40人が入る勇獅子、ご神体と花神輿2基合わせて５基、冠着太鼓、城山の花火、３００人の民謡踊り、数十台の露天商、芸者衆の踊り、とにかく迫力のある夏祭り。

普段には静香の我が亀清旅館はこの週末だけ、燃えます。お客様にいつの様の細かいおもてなしの提供は難しいですが、その分は祭りの方でご一緒に盛り上がる事が出来ます。

車でお越しになるお客様には交通規制でご迷惑になるかと思います。マップの様に万葉通り（県道４９８号）の上山田文化会館信号（中央通）と城山入口信号（城山通り）の間の公園通り交差点から「亀清に泊まります」と警備の方との打ち合わせになります。（年々に警備が厳しくなっていますのでご承知下さい。）

Here at our onsen town Togura-Kamiyamada, our biggest event throughout the year is the Onsen Summer Festival. For 2013, the dates are July 13th and 14th of the Marine Day 3-day weekend. For the festival, there will be a 40-person lion, 5 huge o-mikoshi (portable shrines shouldered and paraded around town, Kamuriki Taiko, Geisha Dancing and more. And also lots of street closures. If you drivee to Kamesei Ryokan during the festival weekend, give us a call for instructions on how to deal with the closures.

The hairy legs are back! This summer, Togura Kamiyamada's Taishokan theater will once again be featuring 'Taishu-engeki' meaning, "Theater for the Masses". It is basically a more casual, hipper version of kabuki. Beautiful kimonos, beautiful dancing, beautiful ... men?! Call it a geisha drag show.

Taishokan had been quiet for a few months, but for summer 2013 they have the following acts booked:

July: Yuyua Torimaru and his troupe "Jiyu"

August: Eitaro Umeda and the Eitaro Umeda Troupe

Two shows daily, starting at 1pm and 7pm.
Price is 1700 yen at the door, or 1400 yen in advance.

From now until around 03-July, it is apricot season here in our onsen town Togura-Kamiyamada. Although the area's orchards were hit hard by frost in April, we here at Kamesei Ryokan will gladly introduce you to orchards where you can pick some of the most delicious apricots you'll ever have. Yesterday we took a family from Australia picking, this evening we introduced some local customers, and this weekend we have some guests coming in from Tokyo who we'll introduce to the grower.

Our onsen town, Togura-Kamiyamada, is blessed with a plethora of fruit orchards. Practically year-round there is some type of fruit picking that can be enjoyed:

Strawberries from December to early June
Apricots from late June to early July
Grapes from early September to early October
Apples from late September to December.

Cherries! One local farmer, my lion dancing buddy Watashima-san, offers cherry picking. Quantities are limited, but feel free to contact us to make arrangements. This year's dates are as follows:
