Bluebells from Kamiyamada to the World

Miscellaneous

Here at Kamesei Ryokan, we have recently been decorating our lobby with some bluebells (grandiflorum).

Kamiyamada's Chikaraishi neighborhood is a leading grower of bluebells. One of the growers has a child in the same class as one of our kids. They kindly gave us these beautiful flowers to display in our lobby.

We had some guests from China stay with us tonight. They were pleasantly surprised to see the bluebells in our inn's entrance. We hadn't realized it, but there was a flower show in Chikaraishi, and these buyers came from overseas to see the latest seed varieties.

Approx. 30 years ago, Chikaraishi's grower N-san developed the first purple-colored bluebell, which put that little neighborhood on the world flower map.

The buyers from China were impressed to see we had some descendents of that legendary first purple flower decorating our lobby -- a global connection thanks to Chikaraishi!
