亀清旅館のそれぞれの客室を信州に特化したテーマに少しずつ変えています。
客室「千歳」はこの戸倉上山田温泉から車で２５分の森地区「日本一あんずの里」の記念で、
庭に杏の木を植えました。

４月６日から２１日までの予定のあんずまつりはこの辺の春の一番楽しみですが、この戸倉上山田温泉は森と違っては北向きの斜面ではないし標高は少し低いお蔭か、亀清の杏の木は早く咲きました。

この春休みは客間「千歳」にお泊りになるお客様はこんな綺麗な杏の花を楽しんで頂けます。

Here at Kamesei Ryokan, we are slowly re-making each individual guestroom around Nagano-based themes. For "Chitose", in honor of nearby Mori "Apricot Village", we had our gardener plant an apricot tree in the room's pocket garden.

Mori's orchards will be holding their annual Apricot Blossom Festival from April 6th through the 21st. But unlike Mori's north-facing slope, Kamesei's apricot tree faces the south and we are at a bit lower elevation, so our tree has blossomed ahead of the ones in Mori.

Guests that stay in "Chitose" this spring vacation will be able to enjoy the pretty blossoms on our apricot tree.

亀清旅館は上山田の陶芸家Agnesさんに頼んで、小さいお風呂の湯口のオブジェを作ってもらった。日本の伝統陶芸とハンガリー生まれのAgnesさんのセンスというコラボレーションからこの亀が生まれました。
女湯の灰色タイルに合わせた彩りの色合いでオリジナルの亀がです。そのお風呂にお入りになっているお客さんがこの新しいアートを楽しんで頂けます。

ちなみに、「亀」ってもう一つな呼び方が「六蔵」だそうです。六本の出っ張りが蔵のような体にはいるから。

Agnesさんの作ってくれた亀は六蔵さんという名前をつけようと思っています。「六蔵風呂」の響きはどうですか？

We commissioned a local ceramic artist, Agnes-san, to make a turtle for our ladies bath. We will place it on the onsen spout.

Originally from Hungary, Agnes uses her European stylistics with traditional Japanese ceramic techniques in her art. She matched the grey colors of the bath's tiles with a splash of blues and greens. A beautiful, colorful addition to the bath, one that our guests will be sure to enjoy as they soak in the onsen bath.

In Japanese, turtle is usually called 'kame' as in Kamesei. However, there is another way to call it: Rokuzo. Roku means 6, as in a turtle's 6 appendages that retract into its storehouse, or 'zo', shell. So that's what we're calling this new creation by Agnes: Rokuzo-San. What do you think of that as a name for the bath -- Rokuzo-buro?

１００円のKidsフリーパスを提供しています。

３月２０日から４月２１日まで、小児向けに一日乗り放題の券を１００円で販売しています。

私共の子供達も電車乗りが大好きで、このパスを何回か利用しょうと思っています。

Just in time for Spring Break, our local railway line is offering a special 100-yen Free Pass for kids.

From March 20th through April 21st, Shinano Railway is offering a 1-day All-You-Can-Ride Pass for 100 yen for children up to 12 years old.

Our kids love riding trains, and we are looking forward to using this pass.

先日に紹介したオイシイモノ図鑑の様にこの戸倉上山田温泉の中で沢山のこだわりのレストランがある。特に、ラーメン屋さんが多い。お勧めの豚骨ラーメンは「壱星」です。渋いマスターと工夫したラーメン、スタミナを付けたい時にここに決定！

As you can tell by the previously mentioned Togura Kamiyamada Eatopedia restaurant guide, our onsen town has a lot of unique eateries. Among them are a plethora of ramen shops. My favorite for tonkotsu ramen is Issei. I like to call the chef the "smooth operator", and his noodle concoctions are sublime.

Togura Kamiyamada's Newes Funky Restaurant Guide

「あかぱん」が紹介する「戸倉上山田おいしいもの図鑑」が出来上がりました。飲食店組合の作成で、パスタ屋Cocoroの栗原さんの絵とセンス（？）でOishi-Onsen似顔絵マップシリーズの最新版。

笑えるか笑えない、微妙なところですが、一つずつの絵はそれぞれの店の特徴を表現するので全部を読みたくなってしまう面白いガイドです。

何であかぱんか良く分かりませんが、この戸倉上山田温泉でこれだけこだわりのお店があるのは確かです。あかぱんの言葉を借ります:

「おしいもの図鑑」を持って
戸倉上山田温泉へ行った。
おいしかった。
楽しかった。
ぼくは戸倉上山田温泉が好きです。

Our onsen town Togura Kamiyamada is fortunate to have a plethora of unique restaurants. Each one is so, shall we say, 'uncommon' that no common restaurant guide would suffice. Hence this latest in their series of funky gourmet guides.

I'm not exactly sure where the character "Akapan" came from, but wearing his trademark red underwear, he graciously (gratuitously?) showcases 20 of our town's shops. Is it humorous? You decide. Are the restaurants good? I can vouch for that!

あれっ？亀清旅館のロビーに杏の花が飾っているけど、

杏はもう咲いてきましたか？

いいえ、実は杏農家の杏宝園さんから剪定物の枝を頂きました。温かい部屋と保管したら、花がこんなに綺麗に咲いてきました。せっかくだから、週末のお客様が楽しんで頂けるようにロビーに飾ってみました。

本番のあんずまつりは千曲市の森「杏の里」及び杏宝園さんの千曲川沿いの杏畑は４月６日から４月２１日まで。今年こそ、その幻の薄いピンクの杏の花を是非、見に来て頂きたい！

Hey, aren't those apricot blossoms there in Kamesei Ryokan's lobby in full bloom? Have the trees started flowering already?

Well, actually, local apricot orchardist Kyohoen kindly gave us some branches that they trimmed. We kept them in a warm room, and they bloomed. So we are displaying them in our lobby for this weekend's guests to enjoy. Kind of a pre-apricot blossom festival.

The real festival takes place in nearby Mori "Apricot Village" from April 6th to April 21st. Kyohoen's orchard here along the Chikuma River just north of our onsen town Togura-Kamiyamada will be in bloom the same time.

飯山市立秋津小学校の５年生は普段なら「感動」があまりない観光宣伝の世界で、感動的な観光宣伝なされた。自分達で作った「飯山観光情報新聞」を長野駅前で配りました。

５年生三十数名が寒い中でその１２ページもあるプロレベルに近い新聞を一生懸命配っていました。「僕らの町においでよ！」宣言。

などなど。
所々で「おいらのトップ１０」とか、読んで楽しい新聞。

新聞を作るに当たって、その学生がきっと飯山に誇りを持つようになった。そして、長野駅前で新聞を配るって、自分達の故郷を守る心になったでしょう。

うちの長男、Ａｎｄｙ君は上山田小学校の６年生でこの年度で６年生の皆が一人ずつ手作り観光パンフを作った。それはそれでよいけど、作った切りじゃもったいないと思いました。先生に、千曲市観光会館で展示したらと提案をしました。取り敢えずはそこまでできたけど、

長野駅前で新聞を配った飯山の５年生に完全に負けています。話によると、もっともっと観光に頼っている山ノ内町の小学生が東京の上野駅でパンフを配るらしい。

学生でこの運動をすればきっと更に明るい将来につながる。

30-some odd 5th graders from Iiyama City's Akitsu Elementary passed out newspapers they made promoting their city in front of Nagano Station. I wish our local elementary school were as proactive!

１３日に松本に呼ばれて、松本市の宿泊施設にインバウンドについての講演に参加しました。私が欧米人の観光客が何を求めているか、そして台湾生まれの石川県輪島市在住の高さん（朱澤www.aka-sawa.com)がアジア系の方からの目線で、二人の講師でした。

高さんから沢山のヒントを頂きました。例えば、
業社としてクレジットカード利用の受けは面倒だが、海外からの旅行者としてポイントが溜まるし、ＡＴＭや両替が不便な日本ではカードが楽と言うのもあって受けた方が親切だと。
ノーショーの原因は交通の不便さ・外国語表示不足ではないか。
ＷｉＦｉの提供はお金がかかるけど、逆に「ＦＢでアップしてね」でアピールする事によって宣伝になる。
外国語資料を作る時に日本語からの翻訳より現地の外国人の言葉を使った方が良い。
例えばスキー場でインストラクターとして台湾人を雇うよりイケメンの日本人に片言の中国語の方が喜ばれる。
中国系の方は真夏でもお湯・厚いお茶が必須。
日本の常識は恐らく通じていない為ルールを説明した方が親切。
お土産は荷物になる為に遠慮する。国際宅配便を考えては？

まあ、興味深い話でした。きっと、皆さんに良い参考になったと思います。

今回の主催者は信州外国人観光客受入支援協議会でした。これからは長野インバウンド協議会を立ち上がる予定で、詳しい情報が入ればまたお知らせします。

この間のお客さんは面白い理由で戸倉上山田に来た：
しなの鉄道の湘南カラー169系の電車の為。

私は毎日の様にお客さんの送迎で戸倉駅でそのオレンジと緑色の車両を見ていましたが、どれだけ貴重か知りませんでした。1960～80年代にこの色の電車は日本全国に走っていたが、現在はこのカラーが唯一見えるのがここのしなの鉄道だそうです。

戸倉上山田温泉:　温泉らしいお湯、千曲川と周辺の山々の自然、伝統的な温泉宿と工夫したお料理、

そして、湘南色の169系の電車。

来る理由は様々ありますね♪

Recently we had a guest who came to Togura Kamiyamada for an interesting reason:
To see the "Shonan" color scheme Shinano Railway train.

I had seen the orange and green colored cars every time I came to Togura Station to pick up guests, but didn't realize how rare they are. Apparently from the 1960's to the 80's, this color car could be seen all over Japan, but today the only place they exist is here in Nagano, on the Shinano Railway.

So there you have it, come to our onsen town Togura-Kamiyamada for the mineral water, for the scenic views of the Chikuma River and the surrounding mountains, for relaxing ryokans and gourmet food ...

... and rare, nostalgic trains!

Celebrate Spring in Togura-Kamiyamada Onsen

戸倉上山田温泉のイースターエッグフェスティバル２０１３年は４月６日(土)に開催される予定です。１０時半からスタートで、千曲川沿いの噴水公園で行います。

公園でお菓子入りの卵を隠して子供達がガーと探すエッグハントに、
盛り沢山の卵のゲーム、
卵焼き　(亀清旅館のＣｈｅｆ武井含めて調理師会提供）
ポニー馬車乗り、
参加者に温泉入浴　(戸倉上山田旅館組合提供）

親子で楽しめるイベント。

今年で第８回目でまた私が実行委員長で務めさせて頂きます。千曲国際交流協会のこの春の行事が年々に地元の子供達に馴染んできて、約１００人ぐらいの参加になるでしょう。

欧米の文化と戸倉上山田の自然と温泉の良さを是非、楽しんでください。

Onsen Town Togura-Kamiyamada's Easter Egg Festival 2013 will be held on Saturday April 6th. Starting at 10:30am, the event will take place at the Fountain Park along the Chikuma River.

There will be a massive egg hunt featuring 1000+ eggs filled with yummy treats, as well as numerous egg games, omelets prepared by Kamesei Ryokan's own Chef Takei, and even horse buggy rides. Participants will also be able to take an onsen bath provided by the Togura-Kamiyamada ryokans.

Come and enjoy a bit of Western culture as well as Togura-Kamiyamada's vernal splendor and fabulous onsen baths.
