突然のお誘いですが、私の大好きな地元の蔵の街「稲荷山」の写真の展示会が屋代駅（しなの鉄道）で行っています。実は、日曜日の午後2時までですが、機会があれば、是非ご覧になってください。屋代駅のご利用者が多いので、電車を待っている間でも、駅舎の中のギャラリーに顔を出してみてください。

稲荷山は土壁の蔵がたくさん残っています。パッと見れば、あまり綺麗じゃないし、崩れてきている所が印象になるかもしれない。しかし、ゆっくり見れば、屋根の瓦のデザインや使っているはりの太さ・長さ、細かい所が見えてくる。そうしたら土壁の蔵の良さ、魅力が分かってくる。こういう建物はもう作れない。市の方で是非、建物の整備に協力して欲しい。民間だけじゃ大変。同じ気持ちの仲間ががこの展示会を開催していますので是非、見てください。又は、実物もご覧になれば良い。千曲市の稲荷山地区まで足を運んだら如何ですか？

Sorry about the lateness of this invitation, but there is an exhibition going on at Yashiro Station on the Shinano Railway line. It is a subject that I am very passionate about: Chikuma City's earthen-walled storehouse district, Inariyama. The exhibition shows photos of the 'kura', highlighting the historical architectural features and materials -- things that you simply can't make or use today.

The storehouses are slowly wasting away because the current owners can't afford the upkeep. I am constantly badgering city hall to assist with the costs, and this exhibition by some fellow Inariyama supporters is an attempt to raise awareness of the issue.

The exhibit runs through Sunday 19-Sept 2pm. If you don't get a chance to see the pictures of the storehouses before then, how about going to the town itself and see the kura with your own eyes? You won't be dissapointed.

戸倉上山田温泉の町興し「カラコロにぎわい協議会」の空き店舗活性事業＃４：居酒屋のあさりちゃんです。今月にオープンしました。さっそく、行ってみた。温泉の本通り沿いと言う素晴らしい位置で、温かい日は窓の全部をオープンにして、明るいオーナーとスタッフでにぎやかなスポットになりました。戸倉上山田の新しい宝物が生まれました。マスターに「鉄板で何かを焼いてちょうだい。お任せ！」と言ったら、スペシャルメニューを作ってくれました。嬉しかった！

Togura Kamiyamada's Kara-Koro civic improvement organization's 4th Empty Store Front Revitalization Project is this pub "Asari-chan". It just opened at the beginning of the month, and I went to check it out. It's position on our onsen town's main street is a prime location, and on warm evenings like this, they open all the doors to the street. This welcoming environment is mirrored by the warm greetings of the owner and the staff. I asked the master to fix me something funky on his griddle and he prepared a "special menu" veggie and pork stir fry for me. It went oh so nicely with the pint of draft beer.
