千曲川沿いの奈菜花、裏は北アルプス

青い空と涼しい風に恵まれて、今日は戸倉上山田旅館青年部の行事で温泉から善光寺までの30ｋｍを歩きました。その一部は私が先頭でした。参加した皆様、ご苦労様でした！又来年、そして特に再来年にも宜しくお願いします。（再来年は私が委員長になります！）
Blessed with blue skies and a cool wind, the other innkeepers and I from the Togura Kamiyamada Onsen Ryokan Assoc. put on our annual 30km walk to Zenkoji Temple in Nagano City today. I got to set the pace for the middle distance. To everyone who participated, Good Job! And we look forward to seeing you next year, and especially in 2010 -- that's when I'm scheduled to be the event chairperson.

中庭の牡丹

亀清旅館の中庭と渡り廊下の横とお客室の庭、そころどころに牡丹の花が咲いてきました。亀清の花のパレードの続きがＧＷにちょうど間に合いました。
Peony flowers are popping up all over -- in Kamesei's nakaniwa garden, along the watari-rouka passageway, in the private gardens of the guest rooms. All just in time for the Golden Week holiday.

鯉幟と子供達Carp Streamers

この子供の日とＧＷの連休に子供連れのご家族が多かったです。亀清の前に鯉幟も飾りましたので子供の姿のお陰でにぎやかな連休でした。
May 5th is Children's Day in Japan and is one of the holidays that makes up 'Golden Week'. We were fortunate to have a lot of children stay at our inn this week, making for a lively time for all.

露天風呂の入り口に新しい看板

お客さんに「露天風呂に入りましたか？」と聞いたら、「えっ、露天風呂があったの？」と言われる時がありました。皆さんに場所を案内しているつもりでしたが、確かに看板がないというないけません。従って、今日は新しい看板を作って、設置しておきました。「百年風呂」にテーマにあわせて昔のスタイルで作りました。どうぞ、お入りください。

Sometimes when I asked our guests if they've tried our outdoor bath, they've replied, 'Eh, you have an outdoor bath?' Oops, I thought I had told everyone about it, but we really did need a sign. So today, I made one, old-fashioned to match the 100-Year Bath theme.

正村つけばa la平林さん

戸倉上山田温泉のこの時期の楽しみが今年リニューアル！亀清旅館から歩いて１０分に正村つけばがあり、今年はニューのルークにニューのオーナーです。鮨平の平林さんがお昼と夕方に美味しい川魚料理を提供する。千曲川沿いという最高の雰囲気で川魚をご馳走！
A Chikuma River tradition at this time of year is eating a multi-course river fish meal at a 'tsukeba' river shack. This year, the tsukeba at Togura Kamiyamada Onsen has a new look and a new owner. Hirabayashi-san of sushi restaurant Sushi-Hei fame will be serving up delicious river fish cuisine along the banks of the Chikuma River.

2007年インバウンド数字

行政調査の為に亀清旅館の去年の外国観光客宿泊者を計算しなくていけなかった。せっかく数字のチャートを作ったからここにも載せさせていただきます。２００８年は既に２００７年の数字を超えているので来年の「比較」数字を作るのは楽しみ。こうやって亀清旅館そして戸倉上山田温泉の昔ながらの伝統的の良さを外国人観光客とＳｈａｒｅが出来るのは嬉しいことです。
Our local government office asked us info on how many foreign guests we had last year. Since I had to put the numbers together anyways, I went ahead and made these charts, so here they are. Our 2008 numbers are already ahead of 2007. I am thankful we are able to share Kamesei and Togura Kamiyamda Onsen's traditional culture with the visitors from overseas!

新しいシャワー

亀清のお風呂場のシャワーの全部が真っ黒です。上山田温泉の温泉成分の影響です。「汚い」という見方もあれば、「温泉だという証拠」という見方もあります。取り返ってもまたすぐ黒くなると言われながら、取り敢えずは今日、２箇所を新しくしました。温泉成分でどれぐらい早く黒くなるかのを見てみたいですね。
Kamesei's shower faucets have turned totally black. The high mineral content of our onsen water is the culprit. So the discoloration is proof that our onsen is the real thing. Even if we put in new faucets, they would just turn black, too. But today, I went ahead and replaced 2 faucets, so we'll see how long Kamiyamada Onsen's minerals will take to turn these black.

千曲川でカヤック

ゴールデンウィークから秋まで土日祭日に戸倉上山田温泉で千曲川のカヤックスクールが行います。大体午前１０時から午後３時まで、２時間コース（初心者向け）３０００円です。私と他の若旦那達が体験しました。本格的です。私だって思い切り繰り返した。川遊びが楽しくて、はまりそうになりました。夏の暑い日に最適！そして、終わったら亀清のお風呂に入って、最高！

Starting with the Golden Week holiday and going through to the Fall, every Saturaday, Sunday and Holiday there will be Kayaking classes here at Togura Kamiyamada Onsen on the Chikuma River. 10am-3pm, 2 hour beginners course for 3000 yen. This is the real thing on a real river. Some of the other innkeepers and I tried it, and I flipped over in the current. Great river fun! And perfect for hot summer days. Especially with being able to soak in our mineral bath afterwards!

牛に引かれて善光寺参りの宣伝の為に我々若旦那達が先日にこの旗を温泉本通りにはりました。今年の３０km歩きが５月６日に行います。私が先頭で全歩予定なのでご一緒にどうぞ！詳しくは

The other day, the other innkeepers and I put up these green flags in preparation for the 'Ushi ni hikarete Zenkoji' walk. There's a legend of a bull catching a lady's laundry in his horns and her following the bull all the way to Zenkoji Temple. In honor of the legend, our town puts on an annual 30km walk from here (Togura Kamiyamada Onsen) to Zenkoji in Nagano City.
