戸倉上山田温泉のマップ作成の打ち合わせであっちこっち回っている中で、久しぶりに西沢貯金箱館に入りました。西沢さん自身が展示を案内してくれました。彼の集めている貯金箱の数がちょっとずつ増えていて、６０００個以上あるそうです。展示の部屋にその半分(３０００個ぐらい)しか展示できないので、交代で入れ替えている。今は雪だるまやサンタさんの貯金箱が入り口に合って、クリスマスの雰囲気になっています。
私が思いますが、我々欧米人は日本のアニメが好きなので西沢貯金箱館で昔の者から現在のキャラクターまで色んな欧米人が好きそうな貯金箱があります。
戸倉上山田温泉に来る時に、この珍しいコレクションを見るときっと楽しめると思います。
While running around to the various shops in town for the new English map I'm putting together, I stopped at Nishizawa Piggy Bank Museum. I hadn't been there in a while, so it was fun to see the current display. Nishizawa-san himself gave me a tour. His collection of piggy banks has 6,000 items and is still growing. Only 3,000 can be shown at any one time, so Nishizawa-san is constantly rotating the displays. The current seasonal rotation is a display of Santa Claus and snowman piggy banks.
Part of the collection is of "character" piggy banks, including lots of "anime" characters from the past and present. I think Westerners like me would get a kick out of seeing some of our favorite anime characters made into piggy banks.
When you come to Togura Kamiyamada Onsen, come check out this unusual museum -- you're sure to enjoy it.
