去年度に千曲市初の英語ガイドブックが出来ました。うちの外国人お客さんの中で評判がいいです。やはり、日本語のパンフを英語に訳するより、欧米人が欧米人の為に作った方が読みやすくて使いやすいです。このパンフのお陰こそ、１泊の予定が２，３泊なった例もあります。
使ってみている中で、一番足りないのはこの戸倉上山田温泉の温泉街ウォーキングマップ及び、レストランの紹介。現在のパンフには温泉のレストランは３件しか紹介できなかった。実際は外国人が喜ばれているお店は沢山あります。これは戸倉上山田温泉の大きい魅力です。
という事で、亀清旅館はＪＮＴＯ登録のビジット・ジャパン案内所にもなっているので、戸倉上山田飲食店組合と連携して、ウォーキングマップとレストランガイドを作るようになりました。広告会社のＡｓａｈｉ Ａｇｅｎｃｙに見本を作ってもらったので、これからは外国人観光客に魅力のあるお店を営業(？)で回ります。(営業になればよいけど、印刷代だけがカバーできるように手ごろの値段で枠を売ります。）
英語の戸倉上山田温泉ウォーキングマップが出来る事によって、英語圏の観光客が来やすくなります。つまり、この戸倉上山田温泉の存在を英語圏の世界の中で認識度が高めればよいと思っています。頑張ります！
Chikuma City released its first ever English guide book last fiscal year (with most of the content provided by myself). It's been a real hit with our guests from overseas. That makes sense, considering it was written by a Westerner for Westerners, rather than just translating a Japanese brochure into English.
After using the brochure for a half a year, I've come to realize that what it is missing the most is a walking map / restaurant guide for Togura Kamiyamada Onsen, the main resort area in Chikuma City. Due to space restrictions, the city's brochure only had a small map, and only 3 onsen area restaurants. But the area has so many places of interest, and so many more great restaurants.
As a JNTO-registered Tourist Information Center, we here at Kamesei Ryokan have decided to put together a Togura Kamiyamada Onsen Walking Map / Restaurant Guide. I had a local ad agency put together a rough draft, and will start contacting the restaurants and shops in town that our guests from overseas have enjoyed.
I hope that by creating this map, it will make Togura Kamiyamada Onsen more enjoyable for foreigners, and put us on the foreigners 'map' for Japan. Wish me luck!
