Brochure for the Hijiri Museum
戸倉上山田温泉の姨捨山（冠着山）挟んで隣の麻績村に「聖博物館」があります。聖湖畔にあるこの博物館は47年前からの2階建て木造の建物です。この一年間は改造の為に閉館していたが、4月下旬にリニューアルオープンする予定です。
今までの資料は主には民俗や動植物の関係でした。改造に合わせて善光寺街道や麻績村のお蚕や和紙の生産の歴史・文化を取組むそうです。
隣に航空資料館もあり、聖湖の眺めも綺麗だし、近くに夏に動いているリフトに乗り展望台からの眺めを楽しんで、下りはスライダーで降りれると言う楽しい所です。
なおかつ、あまり知られていない場所です。我が家族の気に入り穴場です。湖のボート乗りとレイクサイド館での地元の食材を生かした食事をとるのもお勧め。真夏は高原だから涼しいし、連休でも混まない。
今度は博物館のリニューアルも見たいし、またお世話になるのは楽しみにしています。
On the other side of Kamuriki Mountain from our onsen town Togura-Kamiyamada is the small village of Omi. Located there along the bank of Lake Hijiri is the Hijiri Museum. The museum has been closed for the past year for remodelling, and is scheduled to re-open at the end of April, 2012.
The Hijiri Museum is housed in a 47 year old 2-story wooden building. Before the remodel, it's displays were mainly about local folklore and flora/fauna. With the remodel, there will be new displays about Omi Village's Zenkoji-Kaido (the old road between Matsumoto and Zenkoji Temple in Nagano City) heritage, as well as its silk making and paper making history.
Hijiri Lake is kind of a hidden gem. Not many people know of it, so it makes a great escape during the summer. Even during the peak season, the lake is quiet, and it is high up in the mountains so is refreshingly cool even on the hottest days.
Our family is looking forward to going there this summer and seeing the newly remodelled museum.
