amesei Ryokan is a small inn with basically 12 guest rooms all 10-tatami mat size and with a private toilet.  We invite you to enjoy their relaxing traditional Japanese style complete with straw tatami mat flooring, paper shoji screens, a tokonoma decorative alcove and a sitting area.  A spacious 10-tatami mat size, the rooms can accommodate 1-5 people (one has an additional bedroom for 1-2 more people).
The rooms are divided into 7 on the ground floor, all with private tsubo-niwa pocket gardens, and 5 on the floor upstairs. The ones on the 1st floor are each decorated with a different Nagano-based theme and are named accordingly. The 2nd floor rooms are named after the mountains visible from each room.

With its prime position on Japan’s historical Silk Road, Nagano has a rich history of silk production. Nearby Ueda City’s silk weaving is renown as one of the top 3 in all of Japan. This room abounds in silk-related accents, including a hand-made silk wall tapestry, a coffee table and garden decorations made of silk worm trays, an antique silk thread spool on the tokonoma alcove, and a mulberry tree in the garden.
